Abstract

[EN]The main theme of this study is political communications between the central governments of the Iberian monarchies and their local authorities (municípios). In order to understand the norms and practises of government between the political centres and its various peripheries, it compares the monarchies of Spain and Portugal in two distinctive geographical zones (the Iberian Peninsula and South America), leading to a better understanding of the different characteristics of the Iberian empires in the Early Modern Age.
