[ES]Las cofradías y las órdenes terceras tuvieron un papel sobresaliente en el asociacionismo castellano del Antiguo Régimen. Más allá de las diferencias entre unas y otras, ambas desa - rrollaron, de manera especial a partir de Trento, un destacable papel en la asistencia social a sus componentes, al menos en la enfermedad, la muerte y la pobreza, tal y como se podrá comprobar en este trabajo donde se estudian estas prácticas en las asociaciones con sede en conventos palentinos durante la Modernidad.
[EN]Brotherhoods and third orders had an outstanding role in the Castillian associations of the Ancien Regime. Beyond the differences between them, they both played, especially after the Council of Trent had taken place, a significant role in the social assistance to their members, at least in the illness, the death and the poverty, as it is described in this paper, where such practices are studied in associations with see in convents of Palencia during the Modernity.
