Se analiza la tesis de Emilio Lamo de Espinosa según la cual el desarrollo de la sociedad de la información ha dado de sí sociedades con un conocimiento de sí mismas mayor que en ningún momento de la historia. Sin embargo se trata de un conocimento cuantitativo que, por otro lado, ha erosionado valores sociales (justicia, igualdad) de enorme importancia.
