Contenido de micronutrientes en pastos semiáridos

Abstract

[EN]The effect of the topographic position on Mn, Fe, Cu and Zn uptake and concentation in total herbage and botanical fractions (grasses, legumes and forbs) from seminatural grasslands was studied. Herbage samples were collected from forty slopes in the dehesa area (Salamanca province), at the end of the growing season, at two different topographic positions (upper and lower zones), over a period of six years, Grasses, legumes and forbs had higher Mn, Fe, Cu and Zn concentrations in the lower than in the upper zone due to differences in botanical composition between toographic zones. Uptake of micronutrients is related to biomass production thus total herbage, grasses and legumes having greater values in the lower zone and forbs in the upper zone. Both herbage and botanical fractions had adequate Mn and Fe contents for cattle nutrition but could be deficient in Cu and Zn.
