Abstract

The use of spectrally dense signals, or MLS signals, has been proved to be very efficient in broad band evaluation of some acoustical properties. The authors have shown how the variation of the reflective properties, in a given frequency band, are very quickly and very efficiently estimated with only one measurement; that work was carried out in the Underwater Acoustic Tank of the Instituto de Acústica, CSIC; the sample was a high density polyethylene whose dimensions were: 2.0 m x 2.0 m 0.02 m. Acta Acústica, 85, S1 pp 128, 1999. In this paper a similar technique is used to estimate the acoustic transmission properties through a sample similar as above. This paper complements some of the previous results and puts forward a comparison between the theoretical results made by Bobber (1970) and the experimental evaluation.
