Abstract

El Instituto tiene su origen en Madrid, fundado en 1940 con el nombre de Instituto del Combustible. Trasladado a Zaragoza en 1942, fue ubicado en unos sótanos, cedidos por la Universidad en el actual edificio del Paraninfo, en pleno centro de la ciudad. Vuelve a cambiar de nombre en 1965 y pasa a denominarse Instituto Nacional del Carbón y sus Derivados. La actual denominación de Instituto de Carboquímica queda firmada en 1975. Ubicado en el Campus Universitario Río Ebro de Zaragoza, con centro propio inaugurado el 20-12-1994.
