Abstract

[EN]The present work studies the seasonal variations in the mineral composition (ashes, N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Na, Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn) of the grasslands of a "dehesa" of the province of Salamanca by carrying out monthly controls during the period september 1978 - october 1979. The contents is ashes, N, P and K show a similar evolution, reaching maximum levels during the spring months and minimum levels in summer. Similarly, for the elements Ca, Mg, Cu and Zn the maximum and the minimum coincide exactly with the same seasons as the previous elements. Sharp fluctuations may be seen in the concentrations of Fe and Mn over the period of time studied. Ourstanding are the relatively low concentrations of Mg and Na which range between 0.02-0.14 for the former and 0.01-0.07 for the latter. The grasslands of this "dehesa" are deficient, in terms of animal nutrition, in Na, Cu and Zn throughout the year; in N, P, Ca and Mg the critical levels are only reached in spring. With respect to the other elements, the minimal levels are exceeded with a wide margin.
