Abstract

[EN]The extensive exploitation of the semiarid western section of Spain is characterized by the great diversity of plant communities. Two such exploitations, previously characterized from a purely floristic point of view have been chemically analyzed (constituent fractions of the plant biomass). A relationship may be observed between the results obtained and the graminiae, leguminosae and other families proportion. In the correspondence analysis, the separation of a primary group dominated by the graminiae is apparent; this group occupies an intermediate position on the general trophic scale; on it, notable values are reached by the cell wall fraction. On the contrary, the poorer pastures and those of high edaphic humidity (with the exception of the most humid), with no clear predomination on the part of the graminiae, tend to occupy similar position amongst themselves and these are defined by the cell content. This false convergence underlines the necessity of providing production data as well as floristic composition in orden to obtain a complete characterization.
