Una propuesta para sentir el campo magnético producido por un imán

Abstract

El campo magnético es uno de los muchos fenómenos físicos que no percibimos con nuestros sentidos y que forman parte del mundo en el que van a moverse nuestros alumnos durante su vida. El hecho de que no podamos «ver» estos procesos no debe frustrar nuestra curiosidad sino estimular nuestra pericia e imaginación y así poder ofrecer a los escolares métodos para «visualizar» el campo magnético. Aunque la evolución natural no haya dotado al ser humano de órganos específicos para sentir el campo magnético, sí nos ha proporcionado la capacidad de construir conocimiento; esta «adaptación intelectual» es la que nos permite desarrollar modelos para «entender» el mundo. En este artículo revisaremos las herramientas que tradicionalmente utilizan científicos y maestros para poner de manifiesto la existencia y presencia de campos magnéticos y propondremos algunas menos conocidas.
