Abstract

[EN]The dry matter production and extraction of bioelements (N,P,K,Ca,Mg,Na,Mn,Fe,Cu and Zn) by the main families (grasses, legumes and "others")of seminatural communities ("dehesa" grasslands) were considered over a five year period (1987-1993). The production of the botanical fractions was found to be the factor generally exerting the greatest influence on extraction. The grasses, which are dominant in these pastures, reached higher extractions of N, P, K, Mn, Fe and Zn than the legumes and "others". Howewer, the latter two groups, although with lower production, extracted more Ca and Cu because for these elements it is concentration that largely determines extraction. In the case of Na, the effect of both factors was compensated, there being no significant differences among taxonomic groups. Extractions were found to differ significantly among years, mainly owing to dry matter yields.
