A representative area from the Sierra Norte (Sevilla, SW. Spain) is characterized in terms of plant population and soil fertility. The results of the study indicate that the exploitation of the land by grazing, achieved by means of an appropriate management, could improve the productivity of that area without significandy altering its actual ecosystem.
