Abstract

[EN] Acoustic pulses are re-open as a powerfull tool for studying difraction around barriers as an approach to quantify the complex acoustic field in urban areas. Theoretical results are tested in scale models for a variety of obstacles focusing particularly on thin and thick barriers. A tentative extrapolation to more complicated situation is stated. Particular attention is paid to the foundations of a single number rating of noise barriers for both market and prediction of urban noise protection.
