Abstract

La presente tesis investiga las comunidades bacterianas que colonizan el interior de los tubos de un sistema de refrigeración con agua de mar. Estas bacterias se establecen formando biopelículas produciendo efectos negativos sobre el rendimiento energético del sistema. Para mitigar la formación de biofouling (depósitos biológicos adheridos a las paredes de los tubos de refrigeración) se utilizan biocidas que revierten al medio marino causándo impacto ambiental. Se ha la composición bacteriana de estas biopelículas, analizado como evolucionan estas comunidades y el efecto de biocidas sobre las mismas. Se propone el estudio de Quorum Sensing como alternativa no contaminante para controlar la formación de biofouling en intercambiadores de calor.
