Hydraulic conductivity and sorptivity were obtained from these measurements. Measuremenls were made in situ in a heavy clay soil and in a sandy loam soil. The clayey soil was a cracking salt-afTecled soil. Results showed Ihal sorptivity and not conductivity is the mos' important property lO describe infiltration into the clayey soil.ln the sandy soil results showed hydraulic properties typicaI for Ihis Iype of soil, gravily dominating infiltration al suction values nearcr saturation.
