Depredadores de los anfibios de Doñana: Análisis cualitativo.

Abstract

Los anfibios son presa común de muchas especies de vertebrados. Se ha recopilado una amplia información acerca de la depredación sobre individuos adultos de las especies de anfibios de Doñana. Los datos fueron obtenidos de numerosos estudios sobre alimentación de vertebrados y de observaciones directas en el campo entre 1974 y 2004. Los adultos de Rana perezi, Pelobates cultripes y Pleurodeles waltl son depredados por un amplio número de especies de aves, mamíferos y reptiles. Otros anfibios (Discoglossus galganoi, Pelodytes ibericus y Bufo bufo), sólo aparecieron escasamente en la dieta de aves o mamíferos; así como Hyla meridionalis, que destaca además por ser depredada por otras especies de anfibios. De Bufo calamita, aun siendo una especie muy abundante en Doñana, sólo se detectó un caso de depredación, por lo que esta especie, junto con Lissotriton boscai y Triturus pygmaeus, que no aparecen como presas de ningún vertebrado, se consideran con mejores defensas o mayor toxicidad que los demás anfibios. Las especies con menor número de depredadores tienen fases acuáticas larvarias más reducidas y menor tamaño metamórfico, lo que sugiere que la presión de depredadores y la adquisición de mecanismos defensivos ha modelado las estrategias de vida de las especies de anfibios
