[EN] In this essay, Luis Calvo provides the kind of close analysis and close regional focus that is necessary in order to create a comprehensive and credible picture of applied anthropology in Spain. While this topically specific essay does not make up for the absence of a truly global review of the field in Spain, it shows how much close scrutiny of these research/application traditions, undertaken with such great bibliographical and historical effort, has to offer in the way of understanding the social situatedness and possible social functions of anthropology.
