Abstract

La interacción de la superficie de cristales de anhidrita (CaSO4) con soluciones acuosas que contienen plomo conduce a la precipitación de anglesita (PbSO4). Esta precipitación es consecuencia de la disolución parcial de la superficie de los cristales de anhidrita, la liberación de sulfato y calcio a la fase acuosa y la reacción entre el sulfato y el plomo disuelto para formar anglesita. Morales et al. (2011) discuten en este mismo volumen la evolución fisicoquímica del sistema durante el desarrollo de este proceso, que conduce a una significativa eliminación del plomo disuelto de la fase acuosa. Aunque parte de la reacción entre sulfato y plomo tiene lugar en el volumen de la solución, la mayoría de los cristales de anglesita se forman sobre la superficie de los cristales de anhidrita, mostrando relaciones cristalográficas definidas con la misma. En este trabajo se analizan las relaciones epitaxiales observadas entre anglesita (grupo espacial Pnma) y anhidrita (grupo espacial Amma) cuando la solución acuosa que contiene plomo se ha puesto en contacto con las principales superficies de exfoliación de la anhidrita: (100), (010) y (001).
