Una ruta cultural en Ortegal: O Camiño dos Arrieiros

Abstract

[EN]This document shows the first results of the work carried out in order to recover and enhance the Northern tract of a traditional pathway called "Camiño dos Arrieiros", a long route that, for about 40 km, connects the town of As Pontes de García Rodríguez with the small port of Bares. The path follows basically the high lands of Faladora and Coriscada heights. This work can be considered as a first step towards the enhancement of a full landscape -that of Ortigueira municipalitycomposed by a number of different spaces, among which one of the more relevant are the high lands of Coriscada. Our aim has not been to show landscape in its current shape, in which past time remains are only a component, but to illustrate it from its temporal dimension, using the processes of change as main argument. In that sense, the humanization of space from Prehistory to present day becomes an essential issue for the discourse, since the area of Coriscada is considered as a typical natural space. Additionally, we have included a brief summary of the legal context regarding this kind of works, and also some methodological concerns in relation to the enhancement of historical routes, from the basis of this specific experience.
