Abstract

[EN] A comparative study is made of the organic carbon in soils of different genetic origin. Two methods have been employed: A) Walkley and Black standard method, and B) that of Walkley and Black based on the external use of heat up to a temperature of 150° C during one minute. The data obtained for both methods are studied in relation with total carbon content as determined by dry combustion at 9500 C. Although a higher proportion of carbon is oxidized when external heat is used, the data obtained for both techniques show similar variability in respect of the total carbon contents. These variations may be due to the type of soil studied, and in the case of the acid ones to the total carbon content. The transformation factors for oxydized carbon, each technique considered separately, show a correlation with the total carbon content. The regression equations obtained are: f=1,54-0,05 C% (standard method), and f=1,32-0,04 C% when heating is used as above for the acid soils studied.
