Problemas que plantea el estaquillado del castaño.

Abstract

[EN] The possibilities of rooting chestnut cuttings are studied through experiments carried out with soft and hard cuttings, employing some growth promoting substances. As rooting media quartz and river sand were employed, and electric heating in the bottom of them was used to keep the desired temperature. Soft cuttings may respond positively during October or November when treated with some of the following 4 mg/g IAA + 4 mg/g NAA; 8 mg/g NAA; 4 mg/g IBA + 4 mg/g NAA;.8 mg/g NAA; 8 mg/g IBA; 12 mg/g IBA, y 1OO ppm IAA + :100 ppm ANA. The higher treatments were effective for only the more vigorous cuttings. Not a positive response was induced during any other months except those mentioned. Most cuttings which rooted did not form callus at their bases the first sign of a positive reaction was a swelling above the basal end. Roots formed were always very tender, only a few appeared on each cutting and these decayed very easily when the moisture content of the rooting medium was not correct; therefore the practical application of these treatments depends largely on physical conditions; i. e. on correct temperature and moisture control of the rooting medium.
