Comportamiento nutricional del Lupino en suelos de mina contaminados por metales pesados

Abstract

En la Comunidad de Madrid existen numerosas áreas con suelos alterados que corresponden a antiguas zonas industriales, vertederos de residuos urbanos e industriales y antiguas zonas mineras. Estos suelos son los que presentan mayores contenidos de metales pesados. Destacan por su incidencia Zn, Cu, Pb y Cd (MOPTMA 1994, CAM 1998). El aprovechamiento actual de estos suelos son actividades agrícolas, cinegéticas o urbanísticas. Es sabido que distintas especies cultivadas, son extractaras en mayor o menor grado de metales pesados cuando crecen en suelos contaminados. Esta propiedad constituye una alternativa de empleo respecto a las especies hiperacumuladoras conocidas, debido a su mayor producción de biomasa y a que crecen bien y con bajo coste en ambientes donde su uso es habitual y su manejo sabido. Entre ellas, se conoce que los lupinos pueden acumular Mn y Al (Reay and Waugh, 1981).
