Abstract

[EN]: Gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric (GC/MS) analysis was applied to the evaluation of the potential accumulation in soils of polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH's) after a pine forest fire and a controlled burning of a stubble field. A simple clean-up procedure was applied for the concentration of PAH's in the burned soil extracts. The most abundant homologs detected by GC/MS were alkylated derivatives of naphthalene and phenanthrene, while more condensed PAH's, included in the EPA priority pollutant list, were present only in minor amounts.
