Abstract

Este volumen recoge un grupo de comunicaciones presentadas y debatidas en el XV Simposio de la Sociedad Española de la Historia de la Medicina, celebrada en Valencia, el 23 y 24 de octubre de 2009. La reunión tuvo como objetivo reflexionar desde una perspectiva multidisciplinar acerca del patrimonio histórico-médico, su conservación y su papel en la difusión del conocimiento, la docencia, la investigación y las relaciones con la sociedad actual, así como su interacción con la empresa privada, ya que la presencia activa de la Historia de la Medicina en la sociedad proporciona una visión contextualizada de los problemas actuales de la salud, la enfermedad y la asistencia médica y permite analizar los retos y oportunidades de la medicina y la sanidad del siglo XXI.
