Abstract

[EN] The turbidite depositional systems of the northwestern Mediterranean sea (deep sea Ebro fan, Valencia trough and deep Rhóne fan) are considered modern analogs of the Cerrajón formation (Late Hauterivian- Upper Albian, Intermediate realm, Betic chains) depositional model. The similarity between the morpho-structural settings, which conditioned a longitudinal dispersal system in the distal continental margin, is considered as the main factor giving rise to this resemblance. The comparison between the modern and the ancient record shows the similarities between these two studied cases and allows a better understanding of the models.
