Abstract

[EN] The aim to reduce to acceptable limits the risk that the users of a building suffer damages derived from an accidental fire, as a consequence of the characteristics of the project and construction of the building, as well as of its maintenance and use, will remain reflected in the new Spanish regulation – the Technical Building Code (CTE)– and in the Basic Document "Security in case of Fire", in which parameters and procedures are specified to satisfy basic requirements and to reach minimal levels of quality in buildings in case of fire. To guarantee the fulfillment of the basic requirements checking methods and accepted solutions are proposed in the Basic Document in different fields like compartmentation, reaction to fire of materials, smoke control or fire resistance of structures.
