La Edad del Bronce en el Bajo Guadarrama (Bargas, Toledo). Fase 2: Sondeos arqueológicos (2007-2009)

Abstract

Este proyecto de investigación arqueológica se enmarca en los Convenios de Colaboración entre el Área de Prehistoria de la Facultad de Humanidades de Toledo, el Instituto de Historia del CSIC y el Servicio de Arqueología de la Diputación de Toledo y cuenta con el apoyo institucional y logístico del Ayuntamiento de Bargas. Su objetivo es conocer el paisaje, la economía y la organización social de las comunidades de la Edad del Bronce en el tramo final del río Guadarrama, cerca de su confluencia con el Tajo. Los primeros resultados obtenidos han llevado a incluir también la valoración de las fases previas (Edad del Cobre), a fin de entender el proceso de configuración de las comunidades de la Edad del Bronce. El ámbito cronológico abarcaría entonces desde los 5000 a los 3000 años de antigüedad.

En una primera fase prospectamos la zona para localizar restos arqueológicos que nos sirvieran para tener una visión de conjunto de la distribución, ubicación y tamaño de los poblados y lugares de actividad prehistóricos. En esta segunda fase, hemos sondeado dos de estos yacimientos -Marialvares (A) y Mejorada I (B)- para obtener datos más concretos sobre las actividades cotidianas de las comunidades a las que corresponden. Los seleccionamos porque sus emplazamientos (topografía, distancia al río Guadarrama) y restos arqueológicos de superficie eran diferentes, lo que nos hacía pensar que las actividades allí realizadas también lo serían.
