Abstract

[EN] The results of sprinkler irrigation evaluations performed at the Loma de Quinto District are reported in this paper. The evaluations were performed during the 87, 88, 99 irrigation seasons in the main irrigation systems of the district (solid sets, linear- move and centre-pivot sprinkler machines) . Results show that the values of Christiansen's Coefficient of uniformity (CU) were variable for solid sets. Their average CU was considered relatively low. Irrigation uniformity depends mainly on the sprinkler spacing. Other factors that have shown a rel evant effect on uniformity are irrigation duration, pressure and wind speed. The time variability in the wind direction and intensity could have a relevant effect too. Linear- move sprinkler irrigation machines showed the best average CU (80%). The highest values of CU were obtained in irrigation machines in which the emitters had been lowered by the farmers and when the wind speed ranged between 2 and 6 m/s.
