Under anthropic modified conditions, erosional and sedimentary channel chan-- ges are improved. Due to ita neighbourhood to Madrid, the Jarama river suffered serious changes in the last decades, reflected in loss of diseharge and load, mainily composed of gravels. River response has been both erosional and aggradational. Erosive effects consists of channel ineision and floodplaln and bank erosion, tliis last one iii the form of slumps. Sedimentation occurs as chutebars, levees, oxbow lakes, outwash and enlargement of channel bars and overbank deposition in floodplain as well as in gravel pits. Both type examples are described for anthropic stongly modified reaches and compared to river response under more natural conditions.
