Impacto de la contaminación por Cu, Zn y Pb de suelos de minas abandonadas en una especie cultivada en ellos

Abstract

Durante varias décadas, el centro de España ha albergado una sustancial actividad minera. Aunque actualmente estas minas se encuentran abandonadas, la mayoría de los suelos de estos emplazamientos presentan cantidades de metales pesados en su capa superficial muy superiores a los niveles de referencia. Este es el caso de una mina abandonada de cobre en la provincia de Madrid y de otra de plata en la provincia de Toledo, escenarios de este trabajo. El trabajo realizado se sitúa en el marco del estudio de fitorremediación de este tipo de suelos. Mediante un bioensayo realizado en microcosmos con suelos de este tipo de escenarios y en invernadero durante 16 semanas, se estudia el comportamiento de Avena sativa, L. en los mismos. Se muestran los resultados provenientes de la cuantificación de parámetros relacionados con el desarrollo de esta planta de cultivo y los obtenidos mediante el análisis químico de sus partes principales (raíz y parte aérea). La discusión de los mismos, permite hacer una valoración respecto a la toxicidad que provoca el Cu, y la posible tolerancia al Zn y Pb por esta especie. Así mismo, se hacen algunas consideraciones respecto a la capacidad fitoremediadora de una especie herbácea en escenarios reales de contaminación por más de una metal pesado.
