[EN]: A calcareous soil of Seville, fraction < 0.06 mm., was hydrolized with alkali and alkali + Cu SO4 at different temperatures. The degradation products were extracted with ether and then chromatographied. Protocatechuic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, m-hydroxybenzoic acid, vanillic acid, 3,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid, p-hydroxybenzaldehyde and vanillin were identified in different solvents when compared with model substances. The yield of theese fenolic compounds was very small. It is possible that sorne oí these products derive directly from the humic acid structure.
