In this paper an overview of the results obtained by our group over the last few years on the development of new silicon based materials for solid-state dye lasers is presented. Organic-inorganic hybrid materials and silicon-modified organic matrices incorporating laser dyes have been developed which exhibit highly photostable laser emission with good laser efficiency.
