Correction factors to estimate consumed hio, nass by Geners (Genetta genetta) and Egyptian Mo,: gooses ([Ierpestes ichneumon) (Carniiora. Miuninaba).— Feeding tests were conducted to relate fresh consumed hiomass with dry excreted biomass by one adult male Genet Genetta geneva, and one adult male Mongoose Herpestes ichnc:nnon. Correction factors for Genet and Mongoose, by which the excreted dry weight should be multiplied foreach group of prey. are: small mammals, 9.0 and 12.1; rabbits, IS.0 and 6.9: small birds. 7.5 and 13.7: middle size birds. 15.7 and 9.1: fowl, 45.0 (Genet): reptils. 10.0 and 29.5: amphibians 24.0 (Genet); crustaceans. 10.0 (Genet): carrion. 42.0 and 55.3: eggs. 45.0(Mongoose). These correction factors are smaller than those obtained by other authors with the same prey types when studying other carnivore species. but the method of this work is also different, since dry faeces were wheighed before washing them
