La actual crisis de la biodiversidad se debe al efecto acumulado de nuestra actividad depredadora durante los últimos 100.000 años. Es obvio que, desde el advenimiento de la industrialización y la superpoblación humana, las tasas de depredación se han acelerado enormemente, pero es demasiado simple culpar sólo a los últimos decenios o siglos de historia. El cambio global tiene raíces mucho más profundas.
