[EN]The results of the excavation of test pits in Cova de sa Tossa Alta (Escorca, Mallorca)are presented in this paper. A stratigraphic sequence spreading over the Bronze and Iron Ages has been obtained. The earliest documented level is associated to the 14C date Wk 28753 (3421 ± 33 BP; 1880 – 1620 2σ cal BC). It has not been found any evidence for a previous occupation of the cave. The attribution by other scholars to the Chalcolithic Age of several sherd fragments obtained at the surface of the cave is not supported by the new evidence. The use of the cave and its preparation for stabling cows probably corresponds to late times of the prehistory of Mallorca. A lithic industry without known parallels in contemporary mainland Western Europe is briefly described.
