Tratamientos de la Superficie del Vidrio

Abstract

En lo s últimos años se ha intensificado notablemente el estudio de los tratamientos de la superficie del vidrio, con la finalidad de crear, en unos casos, capas protectoras y, en otros, de dotar a este material de propiedades ópticas y eléctricas especiales. Tras una introducción general sobre las características de la superficie del vidrio, se presenta una amplia revisión de los diferentes tipos de tratamientos, clasificados dentro de tres grandes grupos: tratamientos sustractivos, tratamientos de cambio iónico y tratamientos aditivos. Dentro de cada uno de ellos se describen los diferentes procedimientos físicos y químicos empleados para la obtención de capas delgadas, comparándose sus ventajas e incovenientes. Finalmente se describen brevemente las principales aplicaciones de los recubrimientos en distintos campos.

During the last few years, there has been a large growth in the study of glass surface treatments with the aim of creating protective layers in some cases, and in others to give special optical and electrical properties to this material. A general introduction on the characteristics of glass surface is followed by a detailed review of the different types of treatment, classified under three main headings: subtractive treatments, ionic change treatments and additive treatments. For each of these types, descriptions are given for the physical and chemical procedures used in the obtention of thin layers, comparing their advantages and disadvantages. Finally, main applications of coatings in several fields are briefly described.
