El coque de petróleo como aditivo en la producción de coques metalúrgicos

Abstract

En esta Memoria se presenta una contribución al estudio de la influencia de la adición de coque verde de petróleo a carbones coquizables, sobre las propiedades coquizantes de las mezclas (propiedades reológicas y empuje) y sobre las de los coques metalúrgicos obtenidos (resistencia mecánica, reactividad y textura). La influencia en las propiedades anteriormente mencionadas se estudia en base al porcentaje de adición, a la granulometría y al tipo de coque de petróleo, así como al tipo de carbón utilizado en la mezcla. Se seleccionaron tres carbones unitarios y dos pastas industriales, utilizadas por ENSIDESA en sus Baterías para la producción de coque de Horno Alto. En lo que respecta al coque verde de petróleo, se seleccionaron cinco de diferentes características y "grado de evolución térmica"; así como un coque de petróleo calcinado. Estos coques fueron caracterizados tanto por métodos químicos, como por técnicas microscópicas y espectroscópicas. Se desarrolló una sistemática experimental, a escala de laboratorio, que cubre los ensayos de carbonización con adiciones en el rango de 2 a 20 % en un horno de 400 g de capacidad, y posterior caracterización de los coques metalúrgicos. Los resultados obtenidos ponen de manifiesto el efecto positivo de la adición de coque de petróleo, que se produce en mayor o menor grado en función de las características de dichos coques. Los resultados son cualitativamente extrapolables a escala semi-industrial, tal y como se pone de manifiesto en los ensayos realizados en la Coquería Experimental del INCAR.
