Abstract

[EN] From the 1950s several archaeologists have emphasized the relevance of the spits for the discussion on the orientalizing problem. The aim of this contribution is to present a reappraisal of the research concerning bronze and iron spits found in the Iberian Peninsula. Their chronological position, functionality, archaeological contexts, social meaning and other questions will be considered here in the light of novel information derived both from new finds and from the revision of some of the pieces previously known.
