Abstract

[ES] Se efectúa una somera descripción de los diferentes indicadores empleados por el Institute for Scientific Information( I.S.I) y en particular del Scientific Citation Index utilizados como parametros para evaluar la calidad de las revistas científicas, así como las limitaciones que presentan como indicadores de la calidad global de una revista. Se describe el proceso seguido por el Boletín de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio para su inclusión en el citado indice, y la evolución positiva experimentada por el factor de impacto a lo largo de los años. Esta evolución se inscribe dentro de la mejora global de indicadores del aún muy reducido número de revistas españolas, 30, que incorpora el Journal Citation Records. Se señalan algunas sugerencias que permitan asentar y mejorar la visibilidad de las revista científicas españolas.

[EN] A short description on the paramethers used by de the Institute for Scientific Information, particularly the Scientific Citation Index, as indicators of the qualitiy of the scientific journals was made. Some limitations to their use as global quality index was also indicated. The proccess issued by the Boletín de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica Y Vidrio to be included at the I.S.I and the positive evolution experimented was also described. Such change was inserted in the same positive tendency developped by the Spanish scientific journals, included in the Journal Citation Reports. Some suggestions to enhance the position of spanish journals was also incorporated.
