Edafogénesis en los Llanos de Apure, Venezuela

Abstract

El área de estudio corresponde a una llanura aluvial de inundación que presenta formas deposicionales caracteríticas de una sedimentación diferencial. Se distinguen una serie de unidades geomorfológicas, entre las que destacan Banco, Bajío y Estero, de mayor a menor altura y granulometría. El conjunto se presenta como una sabana abierta con vegetación rala, a excepción de los bosques galería y agrupaciones arbóreas conocidas con el nombre de matas. El factor geomorfológico es el principal condicionante de la evolución de los suelos, por lo que el estudlo edáfico se ha realizado sobre la base de una fotointerpretación de la geomorfología de la zona estudiada. Cada unidad definida ha sido reconocida mediante una extensa red de sondeos, a partir de la cual se ha elegido y estudiado los perfiles característicos del área y establecido las cetenas de evolución. Finalmente, aprovechando la red de sondeos y los estudios morfológicos y analíticos de los perfiles se presenta una cartografía edáfica a escala 1/35.000.
