Un programa de mejora genética de judía para Galicia

Abstract

[ES] La judía común (Phaseolus vulgaris) es un cultivo tradicional en Galicia, desde que fue introducido en la región, probablemente durante el siglo XVI. Algunos estudios recientes establecen la relación que existe entre las variedades de judía cultivadas en Galicia y aquellas de procedencia sudamericana (centro de origen de la judía), sobre la base del estudio de características morfológicas, agronómicas y marcadores moleculares como los isoenzimas y las proteínas de reserva, como la faseolina. Hoy la judía se cultiva por toda Galicia, en monocultivo y, especialmente, en cultivo asociado con maíz. Este último sistema de cultivo puede proporcionar menores rendimientos, pero además de la doble producción que supone, es una alternativa interesante desde el punto de vista de un aprovechamiento sostenible de los recursos naturales.
