Abstract

Un método para producir óxido de propileno por reacción de propileno con hidroperóxido de etilbenceno, donde la citada reacción se lleva a cabo en presencia de un catalizador que comprende un óxido de silicio que contiene titanio y que satisface todas las condiciones (1) a (5) dadas a continuación: (1): Hay al menos un pico que muestra un espaciado interplanar (d) mayor de 18 angstron en difracción de rayos-X. (2): Un tamaño medio de poro de 10 angstron o más. (3): Un tamaño de poro del 90% o más del volumen total de poros que es de 5 a 200 angstron. (4): Un volumen de poro específico que es de 0,2 cm3/g o más. (5): Se utiliza un ión de amonio cuaternario representado por la siguiente fórmula general (I) como plantilla separando luego esa plantilla por una operación de calcinación: [NR^1 R^2 R^3 R^4] + (donde R^1 representa una cadena de hidrocarburo lineal o ramificada que tiene 2 a 36 átomos de carbono, y R^2 a R^4 representan grupo alquilo que tiene 1 a 6 átomos de carbono).
