The students of Engineering in Geodesy and Cartography learn the process of implantation of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI), using free software, by means of the new methodology of Polytechnic University of Valencia created by polimedia objects. This article presents a pedagogic process of autolearning of the basic components ofSDI and their implantation. There are a lot of possibilities of map servers, catalog servers, gazetteer servers and Geographical Information System software. The students can choose between some software combinations and they can prove that all of them are applicablefor the SDI implantation. One of the tasks pursued is that students can choose and evaluate what possibilities are the best for each moment.
