Tratamiento y Diagnóstico de la Cultura Material Arqueológica.

Abstract

[EN] This module presents the basics for studying moveable material culture. The focal point of the module will be the integral approach the LAFC offers from the perspective of Landscape Archaeology, although this will be supported by other proposals than our own. We will have two main objectives: 1) To provide a global perspective of studies of moveable material culture at two levels; firstly, managing material culture and the information produced as a result of its technical treatment, and secondly, information on research aspects associated with the technical, technological and functional processes of material culture, in relation to what we understand as the Technical Operative Chain; 2) providing the necessary foundations in didactic terms for the integral management and study of archaeological materials. In order to reach these objectives, the topic will be organised into the following subjects: 1) Moveable material culture: theoretical and methodological aspects, and its management, especially at archaeological level, but also at anthropological and ethnographic level. 2) The diagnosis and identification of moveable material culture in the Prehistory and Protohistory of Galicia and the Iberian Peninsula: oriented towards more specific results, with numerous practical examples. 3) The conservation of moveable archaeological material, providing other perspectives of the treatment of moveable material culture. 4) Methods for drawing archaeological materials, as it is essential to understand material culture using conventional means of representation. In theoretical and practical classes or seminars, we will explore moveable material culture in general, although the focus will be on three of the most important elements: stone, pottery and metal, due to their quantitative and qualitative interest.
