Los biosensores, dispositivos analiticos de pequeño tamaño, hicieron su aparición en los años sesenta cuando Clark y Lyons propusieron la inmovilización de una capa enzimáti~as obre detectores eléctricos, construyendo así el primer "electrodo enzimá tico". Los biosensores son ya los sustitutos de un amplio espectro de técnicas analiticas, permiten análisis rápidos, directos y fiables. y tienen un creciente uso en medicina, medio ambiente y en la industria, en general.
