Más allá del acceso abierto

Abstract

El concepto de acceso abierto a la producción científica se consolida con la definición de la Declaración de Berlín,“Las contribuciones del acceso abierto incluyen los resultados de la investigación científica original, datos primarios y metadatos, materiales, fuentes, representaciones digitales de materiales gráficos y materiales multimedia”, sin embargo, en algunos entornos parece que este significado se haya limitado a “la publicación científica” llámese “artículos”, y si para entender el más allá hay que partir del pasado habrá que recordar su significado y enfocarlo hacia una definición en que no importe la naturaleza del objeto digital y sí, la posibilidad de su reutilización con el reconocimiento oportuno, tal y cómo la Open Knowledge Fundation define “abierto”: A piece of content or data is open if anyone is free to use, reuse, and redistribute it — subject only, at most, to the requirement to attribute and share-alike. El reto consiste en evolucionar a una ciencia abierta e interoperable, en la que la que compartir los datos sea la base sobre la que se construya y reinterprete la ciencia. Promover e incentivar proyectos e ideas en este sentido, será el futuro del conocimiento sin barreras, por el que ya algunas instituciones públicas y privadas empiezan a apostar. El establecimiento de políticas institucionales claras, la incentivación a nuestros autores y la creación de servicios orientados y basados en este principio será la clave de su éxito.
