The studied rivers from Asturias (Northern Spain) have a macrobenthic fauna mainly composed by Plecoptera, Ephemeroptera, Trichoptera, Simuliidae and Chironomidae. After the analysis of the samples, 121 species have been determined, 17 of them are first records for the Iberian Peninsula. The aggregation of the sampling areas, based on similarity of their fauna has made possible to separate 7 associations (2 widely distributed and 5 very localized).
