Valorização sustentável do fruto amazônico Buriti (Mauritia flexuosa L.): eficácia na extração dos carotenoides utilizando solventes eutéticos naturais profundos (NADES)

Abstract

[EN] The growing interest in sustainable practices has encouraged the development of ecofriendly solvents, such as natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES). Formed by the interaction between hydrogen bond donors and acceptors, these solvents stand out for their low toxicity, solubility, and properties that preserve bioactive compounds. This study evaluated the efficiency of NADES in extracting carotenoids from Buriti (Mauritia flexuosa L.), a fruit from the Amazon rainforest rich in carotenoids. Four NADES formulations combined with ultrasound-assisted extraction were tested, with the highest yields obtained using Betaine and Glycerol (53.59 ± 1.64 mg/100g) and Menthol and Lauric Acid (54.91 ± 3.43 mg/100g), surpassing Choline Chloride and Glycerol (7.12 ± 0.65 mg/100g) and Menthol and Acetic Acid (20.06 ± 1.12 mg/100g). The results highlight the sustainable and efficient potential of NADES for extractions, with promising applications in the food and cosmetic industries, fostering innovation aligned with sustainability principles.
