Abstract

Los alcornoques centenarios del Parque Nacional de Doñana se consideran estructuras clave en el ecosistema de las arenas estabilizadas. Estos árboles se encuentran actualmente amenazados por la presencia de aves zancudas nidificantes, cuyos detritos provocan profundos cambios químicos en el suelo y afectan a las hojas, así como por dos oomicetos patógenos (Phytophthora cinnamomi y Pythium spiculum), que han sido aislados de las raíces y la rizosfera de los árboles analizados. Phytophthora cinnamomi ha experimentado una importante dispersión en el Parque durante el último año, aprovechando la alta humedad primaveral e invernal del 2010. Se analizó la distribución de siete especies de oomicetos (seis de Pythium y una de Phytophthora) en el suelo, bajo las copas de los alcornoques, a lo largo de un gradiente de influencia aviaria. El análisis de correspondencias canónicas reveló la existencia de una relación significativa entre la distribución de las especies de oomicetos y algunas variables químicas del suelo estrechamente relacionadas con la acumulación de desechos aviarios. Se encontró que algunas especies de Pythium eran capaces de vivir en suelos muy afectados por las aves, mientras que las especies patógenas, Py. spiculum y P. cinnamomi no prosperaron en sitios fuertemente afectados.
