Perspectivas y actividades en torno a la normalización internacional de las cenizas volantes

Abstract

[ES] La protección del medio ambiente es, hoy día, una de las preocupa¬ciones que está adquiriendo una gran fuerza y extensión en nuestra so¬ciedad. Sensible a este sentir, generali¬zado también en España, se ha creado recientemente la Secretaría General de Medio Ambiente (B.O.E. 16febrero de 19901, cuyos objetivos se dirigen o evelar por la utilización racional de los -recursos con el fin de proteger y mejorar la calidad de vida y defender y restaurar el medio ambiente y que, por otra porte, coinciden con el Acta Unica Europea en materia de medio ambiente IFerreiro, Política Científica n°22,1990). Dentro de este marco de política me-dioambiental se puede encuadrar el problema que plantea la elevada pro-ducción de cenizas por los centrales ter-moeléctricas que consumen carbón co-mo combustible y la búsqueda de solu-ciones a nivel mundial para el aprove-chamiento de estos residuos. En este sentido, el campo de los materiales de construcción ofrece una amplia pers-pectivo, y lo utilización de las cenizas' volantes, en su función de adiciones con carácter puzolánico o por las mejoras que provocan en el comportamiento reológico, ha alcanzado un incremento notable en la fabricación de cementos y hormigones, favorecido además por los ventajas económicas que puede tener aparejadas el aprovechamiento de es-tos residuos.
