Abstract

[EN] In this work, a geological, mineralogical and chemical study of the Monleón skarn has been carried out. It is located in the town of Monleón, about 50 km south of Salamanca, in the Central Iberian Zone (ZCI) of the Iberian Massif. The deposit, whose outcrop are small, displays a geometry controlled by NW-SEtrending faults and conjugates faults, which allow divides the skarn deposit in three areas. In the eastern sector, the prograde exoskarn is developed in carbonate and calc-silicate levels and consists of hedenbergite (Hd82-83), grossular (Gr68-90), and scheelite (I). The endoskarn is developed in a fine-grained leucogranite and consists of calcic plagioclase, clinopyroxene and grossular (Gr63-67). The mineral associations formed during the cooling of the system are complex and consist of subcalcic garnet, other hydrated silicates (amphibole, epidote group minerals, chlorite, white mica and zeolite), scheelite (II) and Fe and Cu sulphides. The Monleón scheelite skarn shows mineralogical and chemical features in common with other tungsten skarns in the ZCI, such as the calcic and reduced scheelite skarn at Los Santos.
